ASID Announces Free 2021 Virtual Conference

Initiative Seeks to Connect, Educate and Inspire Design Community

July 6, 2021 -- Washington, D.C. -- The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) has announced that it will host its second Virtual Conference, a free program that seeks to support and uplift the design community from a distance. Uniting interior designers and design enthusiasts nationwide, the digital event will provide programming, resources, networking, and product showcases in the Society’s new online Design Center. The ASID Virtual Conference will be hosted on July 19-23, 2021, and is available to the entire design community.

The ASID Virtual Conference schedule consists of five days of programming, allowing the design community to balance its work schedule with the seminar’s educational, developmental and networking opportunities. The conference will offer a diverse range of programs, including: free CEUs, keynote presentations from leading designers, peer-to-peer networking, product showcases, and educational breakout sessions. With aims of inspiring and igniting ideas within design professionals, the Virtual Conference looks to deliver material innovations, research to action models, business transformation principles, evolving practices and processes, and the value behind designing for the greater good.

Additionally, the Society will also celebrate the recent award winners and inductees from its National Awards and College of Fellows programs. Recipients will be honored and recognized as members of these programs with a ceremony during the Virtual Conference.

“For decades, the American Society of Interior Designers has served as a hub for interior design professionals and students. With our conference, we’re building a virtual space for the community to gather, share ideas, and grow together,” states ASID CEO Gary Wheeler, FASID. “By sharing experiences and perspectives, we’re able to recognize the ways we can address design challenges, taking full advantage of our resources and ranges of expertise.”

The Virtual Conference Keynote Speaker is Paula Wallace, Founder and President of Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD).

Wallace champions a balance between reverence and innovation in SCAD’s classrooms, labs, studios, and offices to educate future leaders in art and design. She has employed her distinctive approach to design and adaptive reuse to redeem nearly 100 historic structures throughout her career. From fashioning a 19th-century armory into classrooms, to revitalizing a mid-century Kowloon colonial magistracy, Wallace is well known for her signature style; one that mixes the inventive and contemporary with a timeless sensibility for sites steeped in history. Wallace has received numerous awards for her work in education and her achievements in interior design and historic preservation.

Additional speakers and programming will be announced in the upcoming weeks.
